Karen Whitehead

Karen K. Whitehead, age 84 of Wymore passed away on April 27, 2026 at Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on June 10, 1941 in Beatrice to Dean and Evelyn (Randall) Baker. Karen was baptized on April 5, 1953 at the First Christian Church in Beatrice. She graduated from Beatrice high school on January 22, 1960. She was married to Arthur LeRoy "Roy" Whitehead on April 25, 1965 at the First Christian Church in Beatrice.

Karen enjoyed having a huge garden and crocheting, but most of all she loved cooking. It was her life-long mission to feed everyone that surrounded her. She worked at the Lutheran Hospital in Beatrice, Borger Texas Schools and the Wymore Good Samaritan all as a cook.

Karen is survived by her children Randy (Jackie) Baker of Wymore and Lisa Pedersen of Estes Park, Colorado; grandchildren, Nick and Shelby of Nebraska, Billy, Courtney, and Sammy of Colorado; great grandchildren, Charly and Beckham of Nebraska; brother, Darryl Baker of Beatrice; step-children, Marilyn Watson, John Whitehead and daughter-in-law, Heather Whitehead; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur "Roy" Whitehead; parents, Dean and Evelyn Baker; brothers, Bernie (Roberta) Baker, Hiram (Shirley) Baker, stepson, Charles Whitehead and daughter-in-law, Barbara Whitehead, and numerous other extended family members.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Pleasant View Cemetery near Pickrell with Clayton Lundstedt officiating. A dessert reception will follow at the Wymore Church of Christ. Casual dress is requested. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation.
